A smile bright beams from your face
As tiny fingers work each lace
You scream with glee - 'I tied my shoes!'
I'm filled with awe, begin to muse.

Will life's each challenge be thus met
With courage firm and not much fret;
Will wonderment e'er fill your soul;
What lies ahead for you, Nicole?

This is my heartfelt hope, my prayer
May troubles sore not be your care;
May child's dreams for you come true;
A kindly lot is wished for you.

Let innocence and you ne'er part;
Find loveliness in ev'ry heart;
Seek beauty in each passing face;
Greet each new dawn filled with His grace.

When grandkids of your very own
Cause muse so gentle to be sown
Long years ahead when I'm not there
Recall my love and Mom-Mom's prayer.

...As tiny fingers work each lace
    A smile breaks across my face.

For my granddaugher, Nicole

(Ahhh, Christian, don't cry, I'm writing one for you too!)

Ahhh...beautifully done Denise. So much hope for those grandkids...you never want them to loose that innocence. Nothing more precious.
Thank you for writing this.

Wow! This is soooo wonderful. "Let innocence and you ne'er part." I almost cried reading this...remembering teaching my girl to tie her shoe. Exquisite poem, Denise.

So beautiful Denise. I think that the shoes of that child were laced with my heartstrings. I felt the tug.
