ENTERTAIN ANGELS UNAWARE

I lye awake cold and alone,
No place to call my home,

Upon the night,
Darkness is my light,

Everywhere I roam,
To find a place to sleep,

With no shoes upon my feet,
No material things do I keep,

The ground is cold,
My stomache is empty,
As I see people who have plenty.

No one cares for me,
For I am homeless you see,

I have had a hard life,
It started the day I lost my wife,

I don't want sorrow or pity,
Just some love and care,

Maybe some shampoo to wash my hair.
People pass me by,

Without a tear in their eye,
Never giving a hand,

What If I was an angel?
Sent from God above.

To test man of,
His brotherly love?

You will never know,
If you never give true brotherly love,

For we entertain angels unaware,
Never knowing the true spirit hidden there,

This poem is given,
To you as a lesson,

Whenever passing someone in need,
Let go of the greed,

Stop and heed to your heart,
To the call your heart has be given,

Help those in need,
While you are liveing,

And you will entertain angels unaware!

**This was written for all the homeless people, the burden on my heart to make a change and a difference through love!

This is great and so very true. Great message! I think we can all learn something from this poem! Brotherly love can go a long way even if it isnt much you are doing. A smile, a handshake, a hug, anything, little or large can mean so much to someone else! I have learned that myself, at least once a month my family and some friends and I all go down to a very bad part of Los Angeles and bring loads and loads of sandwiches to give to the homeless people, and I made up a paper telling them about God and everything. It isnt much, but they are so greatful that we care enough to give them food, pray with them, give them a hug, talk with them, just everything we do. Not only does it make them feel better, but I know personally I feel better about myself, more spiritual you can say, to know I am helping someone else, not because I have to, but because I want to, it is a great feeling. A blessing in disguise. If only more people could do a little more, this world could be a lot better! That is just my opinion though! Anyways, I think this is a great poem, so with my message I bring it back up to the top, in hopes other people will read and comment!

Thanks for sharing Echo, I also help homeless people at a food pantry near by. I see the hurt in their eyes... I agree with you whole heartedly! Amen!

I for one think I've met a lot of angels here in passions Romantic. Sure, they may not have wings, but they are angels none the less

You are right hoot, I didn't think of it that way, I don't have wings, but my heart can fly with love and kindness, and God does send messengers here to earth. To love and guard hearts, care for the innocent, the abused, love the lonely, the hurting, to feed those in need, and reach out to the ones who hate you and persecute you. Love thy enemies! LOve one another!

A title straight from the Bible. Caught my eye. So very true this is, and so often do we pass by. "If you have done it unto the least of these, you have done unto ME"
