Stark branches, like fingers, grasp swirls of mist.
These dead trees frame an orange, killing moon.
Old headstones by lichen and mold are kissed.
To season's change unquiet dead attune.

These dead trees frame an orange, killing moon.
From beneath the ground comes sepulchral glow.
To season's change unquiet dead attune.
Unholy anticipation does flow.

From beneath the ground comes sepulchral glow.
Restless dead from their slumber start to wake.
Unholy anticipation does flow.
Ghoulish cravings for flesh they seek to slake.

Restless dead from their slumber start to wake.
'Tis not this night they are able to rise.
Ghoulish cravings for flesh they seek to slake.
The howling wind seems mocking of their cries.

'Tis not this night they are able to rise.
Every restless corpse falls back into sleep.
The howling wind seems mocking of their cries.
All Hallow's Eve from their graves they will creep.

Every restless corpse falls back into sleep.
Old headstones by lichen and mold are kissed.
All Hallow's Eve from their graves they will creep.
Stark branches, like fingers, grasp swirls of mist.

Wonderful poem, my friend. I'll be sure to watch my step on Halloween now. It gave me chills.

Dream...

do something for me...
write something nice and soothing
make my aching heart slow its beat
give me words to read
that will send me off to sleep..

no nightmares, not tonight..please!

Thank you all much.

RainbowGirl, I am sorry but nightmares are all I have within me now. 'Tis one reason I have posted little recently.
