You opened my door
and a glacial draft
blew ashes into every corner
of my living room.
Your face was the North Wind,
in a nursery rhyme,
ghostly wisps of hair
were wildly disarranged.
You stood winter lean
in a blue aura.

I fill the kettle,
and from its tarnished spout,
poured steaming dreams
and hoped by holding warmth,
you would melt a little...
Stay.

You left,
hungry for the other side of New Zealand.

Perhaps I'll fill the kettle once again
and wait...
No!
I will fill it with flowers.

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! PLEASE post more free verse here.... especially verse of this calliber.

(I have alterior motives... hopefully the readers here can see the value of well written free verse and I'll feel more comfortable posting mine here, as well... plus I'm sure I could learn a lot from you! hehehe... )

Seriously, Franni, this is very well written. You have painted a picture with excellent imagery which is now sitting in my mind as if it were my own memory. Lovely.
