A nomad through hot desert sand
-Opressed by scorching sun
Man trudges through this arid land
-Of barrenness - undone.

As wanting as a pauper's purse
-To poverty he's joined
Inheritance but Adam's curse
-His Paradise purloined.

Seductive voices sing his name
-feign fill bleak emptiness
Then quick abandon as they came
-Sore soul left in distress.

Drink deep the living water - free
-A reservoir ne'er dry
Eternal springs - come taste and see
-His well doth satisfy!

A bounty rich worth more than gold
-Abounds - true - overflows
Redemption wrought from days of old
-So freely He bestows!

Abyss is filled by Him alone
-This King's own righteousness
Behold the Lamb - His shed blood's shown
-The path to blessedness!

I'm often impressed by your work, Denise. This one, especially.... I truly admire a person who freely speaks their faith. Thank you for sharing this. I apologize for not commenting more often.

Well Done! Most impressive! I can tell that some serious thought went into this work, that and some serious belief. I bow to you and yours.

Wow! Thanks for the great comments! I'm so glad that you liked it! And not to change the subject, but I spend most of my time in the 'further back pages'! I find so much great stuff back there that slipped down too quickly! I'm never disappointed!

Thanks again!

Denise, though I'm not a religious person, this poem was far too good to read without commenting. A wonderful show of your faith.
