Carefully I am balancing as
Whirling
Spinning
Dancing
Gliding
Cartwheeling
Thoughts cavort through my mind
As I sit on the edge of my sanity

Fog infiltrates my mind
Simple Words elude me
Pencil
Windowsil
Cabinet become
Frustration
Gestures
"That thing over there"
As I sit on the edge of my sanity

Wanting the normal self to grab the reigns
I totter,
I teeter,
I grip tight the sides
Holding On
Holding On
Holding On
As I sit on the edge of my sanity.

Time, Talk, and Tenderness with self
The experts all say
So I focus on the horizon
The sun will surely rise
As I sit on the edge of my sanity

Hi Julie:

It's a fine line between sanity and insanity. I have known you for quite some time and you balance very well. You are an inspiration to me. Great poem! Loved it.

I liked the repeating line: As I sit on the edge of my sanity. Very good!

How charged with punishments the scroll;
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

dsnyder, DreamEvil, Seymour,Shawn and Tara, thank you all so much for reading and commenting on this piece. It sort of rumbled around my head before I actually got my pen to paper. Unlike some of the other topics I write about, this is one area that is less pleasant to explore.

Thanks again!

this is good, really good, don't we all feel this for one reason or another, and I love that you left the reason off, made it so easy for each reader to apply and enjoy your work,
loved it!
