Bird Statue with Tremble

Down fuzz on a scrawny neck
grown up beak protruding from
a baby face, he clung
to my sons bike,
a metal tree, showing much
self control.
He did not cock his head
bird like, to see what
danger was there
but instead pretended
not to be.

I felt him tremble when
I placed him on the roof
away from the cat
and me.

Then I remembered the yellow
eyed watch and the tree climbing
claws of my feline friend.
