careful steps
the old man takes
the gentle September sun
caressing his face
slowly, he makes his long journey
o'er rough trail and stone
heart joyous and free
as he makes his way home
the Unseen watches
from regions unknown
as one of His children
travels alone
He waits like a lover
with jealous breath
til the old soldier lays down to rest
bark rough on his back
as he leans for support
eyes wearily close
in Heavenly rapport
no fear does he feel
or sorrow or doubt
for soon will he kneel
near a Throne in the clouds
the Heaven's all hushed
the waitings begun
as another gentle spirit
comes home to the Son

Izzy, I haven't gotten to read much lately, and had forgotten how much I love to read your work! I am so glad I stopped off to enjoy this piece! You always take the reader on a blissful flight into thought. Very beautiful, my dear! I've missed seeing you, in love here. I've only heard rumors of your where-abouts. (sigh) Chin up my dear, I feel your pain. ** kisses & hugs

Izzy,
Everything you write seemd to captivate me and leave warm images in my head.
"He waits like a lover

Great work here, must be a great feeling of joy to pen such a piece and to have such within you.
