Down The Road

I looked down the road and saw a dead end
and I couldn't see a u-turn.
But I traveled on a little bit more.
Perhaps there was something to learn.

I looked down the road and saw where it stopped
at the edge of a beautiful lake.
But there was no bridge to take it across.
A ferry might come by at daybreak.

And when the dawn came I was out at first light
standing right at the edge of the lake.
But by evening time no ferry had come
and all I could hear was my heart break.

There was no u-turn. So there's no going back.
I can't even see up the hill.
I'm waiting on ferrys that never come by
while knowing that they never will.

Such a sad tale! Time to build a raft! Well done!
