Ambivalence

Alone in darkness, donning scorn,
Shadowed beneath the rage of hate,
Curse I the day sweet Love was born.

Watch I as eyes of Love adorn.
While shine in mine doth abdicate
Alone in darkness, donning scorn.

As Jealousy holds me, forlorn,
In pains ne'er to alleviate,
Curse I the day sweet Love was born.

Emotion ravaged, I lie shorn
In barren waste, insatiate,
Alone in darkness, donning scorn.

Beset in death of Hope, in mourn
For none lest woe disseminate,
Curse I the day sweet Love was born.

Every emotion in me torn,
Affliction due the hand of Fate.
Alone in Darkness, donning scorn,
Curse I the day sweet Love was born.

And you said I was kissing up to the teacher!
LOL...seriously though...great job on this one Michael! I really liked how it turned out! (and also glad to see the darkness of your soul still regardless of that terrible bite you've got!)

Definitely Darkly and well done DarkLord.

No lost or dulled edge here, I think.

Nothing is worse than sorrow,
except perhaps disdain.
I'll be myself tomorrow,
tonight I'll feel the pain.

Terrible bite, Christopher? Ha It's more than that ! His mind, body, and soul belong to me.....not to mention one other little tiny part I mentioned in Adult ! Need I remind you ? LOL Very nicely done, because I know how much pain and suffering you went throught to write this darn thing! I give you an "A" as your teacher......he he he Oh, I guess that's not what we're studying here, huh? Sorry.....my mind is in the gutter no matter what day it is.....(sigh) Just ask anyone that knows me !!

Michael as I've said before, this is a fine piece and knowing the level of difficulty one encounters when writing a villanelle makes me appreciate it even more.

really like this, these villanelles are great to read, and when you go back and look to see how they are created makes them even more majestic creations
