Hark, there is a creature on the hood of my car
with me he has now ridden really quite far.
He turns to me and looks with great fright,
"How did I get into this perilous plight?"

Thy imperiled existence does cause me compassion
for I have time to stop and your safety to fashion.
But lo, this is not the American way
to do kind deeds at the dawn of the day.

So lay low my friend and do not scurry
and cling to my windshield, be not in a hurry.
For it the fortunes of nature are on our side
we both arrive safely still contained in our hide.

Who-o-o-a, for now thou hast taken to flight
for a moment in the sunlight what a marvelous sight.
With thy hands and thy feet like an eagle wide spread
looking for a place to land, and yet not be dead.

Ah, they say that flight is good for one's life
to be free of earth sailing beyond all our strife.
For you in flight quite free and fancy and simple
thou are now on you truck but a small, little dimple.

Echo this was great. What a neat story! I'm not used to lizards though and I probably would have freaked out. Poor little guy met his doom!

Ha! Echo, I loved this! It has always fascinated me how critters can hang on for so long! I saw the title and knew I'd love this! I like to watch him hang on for dear life!! hehehe I like to see their cheeks flapping in the wind! LOL Their knuckles white, and the look of fright in their little beaty eyes!
That's what they get for crawling across my car ! And for not being smart enough to JUMP off before I TAKE off ! hehehehehehe

Echo...great poem. I liked the added idea that its not the American way to take a few minutes out of our precious day to help someone in need out. But...the poor little lizard....

Amy...Yeah I know, I felt bad, I made up for it though

Nan...Glad at least one of the two made it ok. The one on my car made it onto a semi coming the other way, poor thing. I still feel bad about that!

Can't say I've ever experienced such a thing, but I do think it'd probably be hillarious..thanks for the laugh!
