I took a trip to yesterday

by chance, a title caught my eye
and I couldn't help myself
yesterday pulled me in.
I read my own pain filled lines,
and relived each and every tear.

I cried to read
of a step into heartache,
but today soggy tissues
are replaced with a sad smile,
and the realization
that it is a heartache,
lived through.

my poems, befriend me,
taking my pain when I no longer can.
line by line
I write the ache out of my heart
and save them away,
in poetic recess,
and wait
for another trip
...to yesterday

Lovey: As you tuck your yesterdays into those poetic recesses, please know I wish for you a tomorrow overflowing with happiness... when your only looking back will be to marvel at how far you've come!

Oh my Iloveit.....I could have written this piece. I look back at my poetry and am amazed at how I've grown/changed over the past year. I like to look back at them as a reminder of how far I've come and where I never want to be again. This is a wonderful piece and may God Bless you in your endevors.

Someimes those memories flood back like that. 'Tis a great reminder of where we don't want to be. May your tomorrows be brighter always!

This is excellent....and so true. The path of a poet's poems is also the path of his/her life. Any journey back through our poetry is also a journey back through our lives.....and it is always amazing to look back on what was so important at the time. Speaks volumes for the resiliency of the human spirit.

whew, I actually got in to the server

WhtDove, "May your tomorrows be brighter
always!" thanks, what a warm wish

Pepper, glad you enjoyed, we are lucky, us poets, to have poetry to turn to when we are hurting

Seymour Tabin thanks

Balladeer, thanks, you put it so well, at the time of the hurt, resiliancy is the farthest feeling from us, but looking back, yep, we are pretty strong after all huh?
