I have paid the price for being alone.
Being used and misconstrued is my fate.
I pray my heart becomes obdurate stone.
This lust for life only my death can sate.

Most come to me to have their problems solved.
My own will only be solved by my death.
Within their problems I become involved.
For mine no one seems able to spare breath.

In solitude I spent this joyous day.
My desire to live this life is spent.
From afar I have watched the living play.
My grip on sanity will not relent.

I suppose I wallow in self-pity.
Truly I hoped for a day without pain.
I will sacrifice it to the city.
For those that might need me I will remain.

Much like Cinderella, this bitterness will vanish when the clock strikes midnight. Then will all be well again.

I read your posted poem my friend
Iím not sure quit where to begin.
To tell you that Iím very sorry
I did not throw a birthday party.

But I will start one right now
to let you know your loved somehow.
Iíll get a jump on next years bash.
Would you rather have big gifts or cash?

Please say that you forgive me
for not knowing its your birthday.
So hereís a birthday kiss my Dream
I hope you know how much you mean.

I am here to listen, and not speak
so read the words of my gratitude
that you are not among the weak.

Oh my...this is a little eerie...it seems you've explained a part of me exactly within your beautfully sad words, my friend...wow..

I understand exactly how you feel. Sometimes we only try to help, and get ignored on the process by people who are only seeking attention for themselves. You have the right to pity yourself now and then, as do we all. But it is after midnight, so I hope all is once again well.

'Twas an expression of loneliness, nothing more. Next year will be no happier as 'tis not my lot in life to be happy but, as was told to me, that is life.

Thank you for the replies.

That's not true. For one I ask you what's wrong and you won't tell me about it. You just say that their your own to deal with.
You know you're a person with a big heart Dream. If you don't let people dump on you they won't. As for someone else helping you, then maybe you need to talk about. God knows, I have tried. You won't talk, so what am I to do!?

I like this little ditty on self pity!
As it sounds like it could be my own.
Well stated!!
