In mind's eye I see the beauty,
...of a rising Kansas sun,
Upon a field of golden wheat,
...a new day has begun.

I walk along a country road,
...I hear the meadowlark,
As fingers of the dawn's first light,
...press away the dark.

Thirty miles from Wichita,
...I see my long agoes,
Searching for what used to be,
...Is gone I do suppose.

Up ahead the railroad track,
...I hear El Capitan,
Coming back from Albequerque,
...To where its trip began.

The Sante Fe has left the station,
...Amtrak rides the rails,
Where locomotives hauled our past,
...abandoned hiking trails.

I climb the grade, stand on the track,
...look back along the line,
What has been is ever gone,
...but memories are mine.

You realize that I am posting because I like being the first. Besides if I don't you may not get any. I understand everyone reads my stuff but they just don't like to post.

Okay here it is. Nice dreaming poem. Am back to the story writing. I'll look for more of you work in the future.

It's amazing, isn't it? When you think about how much progress has happened in such a very short amount of time. A hundred years isn't really very long.

Nicely done, my friend...
