It was not my intention to offend
Your proposal is bad when one compares
It to the position you now condemn.
But maybe I think and hear your prayers.

But in the alternative can you see
That what you have proposed is expensive
And amendment is done by small degrees.
Your view is one-sided and defensive.

To expect no interference from birth
Is to assume all of a lifetime of cost.
If life is not measured in total worth
Rights, consent and approval can be lost.

To ask for no-one's help seems like conceit:
To get such help, one gives love in receipt.
