~~*An Early Frost*~~
October's quite a busy month
I'm diligently growing old
And you are like the wind
So employed with growing cold
~*~
Winter last the sparks did fly
Firelight fanned to bright
Spring rain came, the fire died
All left was candlelight
~*~
Little torches carried hope
Each one lit the other
Now I fear an early chill
the taper's heat will smother
~*~
Though the embers warmed my hands
and filled me with desire
The story here is an old one
Never play with fire
~*~
I stand amongst the ruins charred
A lesson too late learned
Growing old while a cold wind blows
Applying numbness to the burns
~*~
In frosty air of death
I inhale my own breath

Excellent! I loved this one. Couldn't pick out a line that I liked best as they all are so good!
