The Steamy Desert
You look at me with such wonder and amazement
But I cannot feel the same about you anymore
Your secrets are out like a leak in a pipe
It once only trickled suspicion
But now it has burst and suspicion is truth.
Don’t ask for second chances
The tape is worn off, the lies exposed
I cannot be new and shiny like she seems to be
I am the old car that ran well for years
Never gave you many problems
But the new one is so fast and seems like fun
I only hope it is made of the same steel
That kept me loving you for years.
Good luck in your ventures
Your shy little caterpillar has built her cocoon
I’m immune to your words and promises
Hidden safe in my shell
Waiting to emerge again…for I know
Someday I will fly.
Let my words fall first upon deaf ears before a closed mind...
