I really need a friend today!
I cried to you. You turned away
And walked off to the coffee pot
Hoping your beverage was still hot.

Is there a place that we could talk?
Do you have the time to take a walk?
My questions fall upon deaf ears.
Perhaps I am not really here?

Does need invisibility make?
Is it just easier to ignore heartache?
Go about your day unimpeded,
Telling everyone you need to be needed.

No matter, I’ll crumble in despair
Wondering why no one is there.
You might claim your eternal devotion.
But you’re busy with self-promotion.

Caring’s much more than pretty words
My ugliness sometimes needs to be heard
You may end up soaked with tears
But you might just allay some fears.

Or bring about a tentative smile
By sharing your time for a short while.
I guess you’d much rather pretend
Than make the effort to be a friend?

I really should be more discerning
In sharing my heart’s deepest yearnings.
Acquaintance doesn’t friendship make.
Some folks are jewels, others are fake.

Hmmmmmmm... I guess HTML isn't working??? Ah, well... so much for THOSE efforts! LOL

Wonderful message, suthern. Ingenuinity can be cruel in a relationship of any sort. But as you and Dragoness have well stated a "true" friend is precious.

Toerag: ROFLMAO!!! What a subtle way to suggest PMS is the problem! LOL. But if Toerag is the solution, I'll plead guilty to just about anything! *G*

Pooooor pooor baby..Now this poem is outstanding......and now ya gotta try to blame this excellent result on PMS?...You women try to blame everything on PMS....I'd rather have PMS then hear about?...Now get your ass back to the pen and paper and write another one....just cuz ya wanna...not cuz you're mad, or sad, or horny, or blond...and definitely not cuz of PMS...ya hear!

Geesh - it just dawned on me - JTF - how are ya, Jef? Man - is it great seeing you in here. I wouldn't have recognized you except for your reference to Auntie.

As for you, Belle - terrific poem. It has so much feeling in it. You are so good; I wish you would write more.

Sweet Toe, I wasn't saying this poem was PMS inspired... you know me and my opinion of whinin' and complainin' better than that! LOL. Actually... I'm more likely to BEG to be on the (Toe)rag! *G*

By the way... that pen and paper work much better in my HANDS! LOL.

Thanks to you and LJA for all your encouragement... it's appreciated!

Suthern you know you always have us! You know this is how I was feeling the other day when I was so down. I felt the same way. Cept was within my own household, not with friends. You captured the not paying attention when we needed someone!

Saxoness: Thank you very much! [I would say I go through long dry spells, but with Toe around, that would be a lie (*EG*) so I'll just say I don't write all that often. LOL.] I'm a Louisiana gal... or as the sailor says, a Bayou Belle! LOL

WhtDove: Regardless of who it is playing deaf, dumb, and blind when we need them... it hurts. Thank you for your kind words, lady... and I hope your family has started appreciating you more... you deserve it!

Wonderful poem! Very well said. I've felt the same way many times. I'm glad someone brought this back up to the front so I could read it.
