How desolate when
the heart stops beating
yet the clock
keeps ticking
and time
leaves us behind...
for the past
is a sweeter memory
than a hope
the future holds in store.

This was well written, but I'd tend to disagree.......I am looking forward to a much brighter future than my past

I agree with hoot on this one Robert. Dreery pain of the past with out hope for the future. I would never have been able to survive my life. Hope is the spark eternal.

exactly!!! that's why I said.."how desolate" that some live in the past. My grandmother is 86 and sees no future. The past is all she has now.

Many people grow to a point where they can't see what tomorrow could ever offer them that would be better then what they have already experienced in their past. It seems sad but some of these people could have had much more joy in their past so the future seems like a waste to them. Nice job on this one Robert.

I can see both sides here. I guess when getting old they do tend to remember the past than look to the future.

Us though? I hope we look to the future. Good one!
