You can call me Mary
or any other name
someone else's life to live
another persona to carry

You can call me Jane
any title of choice
to grant me something better
than simple and plain

Maybe call me Joe
see if I will answer
another person's lifestyle
with something more to show

You see by my presence
I need anything different
to rid me of this
middle-of-the-road existence
