Listening to every heart

The Walk

Moonlight walks
under a polished silver plate.

The curves of the sand
meet your feet.

Golden thunder on the fluid
air meets your ears.

Tranquility surrounds you
in a blanket,
the seagull cries “trespasser”
and flies away.

The barrier of sound is broken,
you watch the silver-steel
bird continue its journey
into darkness.

A path is lit for someone
to travel on the restless and wild
blue water.

Someone spilled sugar crystals
on the cobalt blanket above ~
and shadows are hidden as
the silver plate illuminates
them.

You will never know how much I needed this quiet walk in the sand tonight! Thank you.

Denise, Poet, Balladeer, thank you for your comments. Amazing how poetry is ageless.

Sunshine, thank you. I could smell the salt air and hear the keening of aggravated gulls.

Thank you Ali and Hoot...I thought perhaps this would be viewed as sophomoric, but the responses say otherwise.

This poem just kind of lulls you away into a dreamstate. Love the "silver plate" imagery.

Sy, you've commented before that I'm jello ~ so now the question is asked, "what flavor?"

Thanks, Caroline, for walking with me!
