She didn't sing it just for me.
I knew that from the start
But, when I heard the melody,
It poured into my heart.

A voice whose passion filled the sky,
Smooth notes held loud and long
Yet gentle as a mother's sigh,
That's how she sang her song.

A small part of the audience
I sat, quite mesmerized,
And felt her touch my every sense,
Form teardrops in my eyes.

To me there was no day or night,
There was no right or wrong.
My world was filled with sweet delight
The way she sang her song.

Could she imagine, singing there
She had, so easily,
Calmed my fears and stripped me bare
For all the world to see?

Although her lips seemed not to move
Her notes came loud and strong
To put me in a wondrous groove
The way she sang her song.

Hard times will never get me down.
No worries bother me
For I'll just hum that wondrous sound
She placed inside of me.

Whatever battles I must face
That life may send along,
My world remains a glorious place
Because she sang her song.

She'll never know my love for her,
Won't feel my passion's rage.
A faceless soul I'll be - a blur
She looks on from the stage.

It matters not, for in my soul
She always will belong.
She's made my life completely whole
The way she sang her song.

The power of music! Like the power in your work, Balladeer, it's hard to forget! A wonderful tribute (what's the song?).

Every time I think I have seen your best, you keep proving me wrong! What can I say? This is absolutely one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever read! Some people touch us this way, don't they? You have expressed it so well!

Sir Balladeer: Applauding another fine effort from the master. Music is my life and I can truly understand what a song can do. Got a few of those in the brain case as well.

PS. Thanks for the responses in turn. Till next time. Be well!

Balladeer,
Not all poems sing to me but this one did.
I read it through with out a hitch and that in a poem is hard to do. It is something I strive for but rarely achieve. I don't know where you pulled it from but it must have been your sleave. Bravo

Yes, even I wonder who was singing. But it obviously touched you enough to touch others.

Mike,
Perhaps she will know your love for her,
And feel your Passion's rage....
While seeing your caring, wonderous smile
As she steps down off the stage.

Perhaps she will hold you close
And feel the heartbeats intertwine,
While in her the butterflies you stir
As you stimulate her mind.

Honestly, it brought a tear. You've given me so much. Thank you...for so many reasons.

One of the things I so admire about musicians (and poets! *G*) is their ability to reach inside our souls even when they don't realize they're doing so. This reminds me of "Killing Me Softly With His Song"... one artist can hardly pay greater tribute to another than through creating something beautiful in their honor. This is lovely, 'Deer one... whether the lady knows how lucky she is or not!

Balladeer, Revered Elder, Great One, etc...
Fantastic job as usual. It is exactly the way I feel about my song.

well maybe its cause I can't sing a note, and hope some day someone will still see the song in me, so I saw this different than most, to me it wasn't about music per se but about the effect that a special person had in your life, it is a beautiful poem.*sigh*
