Breathe life into this feeble heart,
Life this mortal veil of fear,
Give me strength and wisdom,
An end to all the tears.

Come away gentle child,
I dreamt they said to me,
To a place of true happiness,
To the place you are meant to be.

When the whirlwind of fury or realization comes,
What can you do?
Learn from your mistakes,
And strive for a better you.

I heard a voice like thunder,
Saying, 'What do you plan to do?'
'Drink from the fountain of forgiveness child,
It's all that's left for you'.

'Your in search of yourself young maiden,'
'Wanting peace in thy heart,'
'Drink precious child, drink,'
'For that is where you must start!'

I drank from the ancient fountain,
Water so clean, clear and fresh I'd never tasted,
A warm feeling settled over me,
I drank it all not a drop was wasted.

I did not believe because I did not see,
It all comes from within,
I had to forgive myself,
Before a new life could begin.

And the lands that fell before me,
All the paths were no longer overgrown,
All my journeys would start anew,
Just forgiving myself I could now walk on the stone.

The stars above the slumbering hills,
Are dancing as far as my eye can see,
It's like I've been born again,
Life is out there waiting for me.

The wind no longer a gust between the trees,
The road now a ribbon of moonlight across the moors,
The moon no longer a ghost but a beacon above the seas,
Now my soul no longer need close it's doors.

On the dusty roads I walked,
Over glorious mountains so majestic and high,
Through rivers running deep,
Feeling I could touch the sky.

I just had to forgive myself,
Lay all the troubles behind,
So I could start my life again,
And happiness I'll find.

Self forgiveness, as most know, is one of the hardest things to achieve. I like this very much Isis.

Thanks Severn, it's easy to forgive others, harder to forgive one's self..

Isis,
This is definately the best! I could go
on and on...your imagery was MAGNIFICENT!
The subject matter...well you picked one
of my favorites no matter if forgiveness
of the self or others...it all has to
start somewhere.

Isis this was wonderful!! It is hard to forgive oneself. But that is the right place to go. Drink from the ancient well my dear, it will fill your soul. Sounds like an inspiration and words from above!? Very, very nice!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not much of a writer, but I am a big reader. This is magnificent. When we can forgive ourselves (and we ARE our biggest critics), we can forgive anything or anyone!
Bravo!!!!!!!!

this is very good.
Sometimes, we blame ourselves for things we had no control over, and those are the hardest to forgive.

Isis: Very strong message here and one of the hardest is self-forgiveness...we're always so hard on ourselves..I like your thoughts!

Forgiveness of ones self is truly the first step
To a contented soul
But take care kind maid that it is truly thee
That needs the forgiveness you seek
A very touching subject and beautifully written
