Quiet the waters
Birds are at rest,
Dusk is approaching
Must kneel down and pray,
Mind is tormented
With deeds of the past,
Hands tightly folded
But nothing to say.

To whom should I pray?

I see...

Men in black vestments
Proclaim righteously
The path to salvation
is to blindly believe,
And the doorway to heaven
Can only be seen
Through the eye of the pure,
Not those of a thief.

This I cannot believe.

Hence...

Let darkness swallow
The words never spoken,
I have naught to confess
To embroidered pretense,
The peace that I seek
Is within my own soul
And unto my own God
I am folding my hands.

And quiet the waters...

I believe in the sentiments of this poem. We do not pray to men of God, we pray to God. And sometimes, His church is not a building. I like this one, Wolfgang.

Exactly! Sometimes you can pray better in a special place of your own. Well written, Wolfgang!

Wolfgang,
I know the temple of god is a stone
Pray to it and you will not be alone.
Enjoyed the poem.
