***WOW!!! I can actually write light-hearted poetry!!! What a surprise! ~chuckles~ ****

What's all this crap about Y2K?
Why're we so crazed 'bout the earth's final day?
Who started this d*** rumor anyhow?
I just don't get why we're all havin' a cow
I swear, all this panic is makin' me sick
If the world's gonna end, then make it quick!
Nope, 2000 can't come soon enough
Hey, the world's end can't be THAT tough...
And whoever said 2000 would be earth's final hour?
Who let THEM decide? Who gave them THAT power?
I say screw it all, whether it's true or not
And if it is, then I say just LET this world rot
I mean, look at all the people who are suddenly religious
Personally, I think they're all a bunch of 'idjits
Trying to find a way to save themselves
In the end it looks like we're ALL doomed for hell
So I say we enjoy this year as much as we can
This "world's end" issue is not in my hands
Anyone wastin' time on it's a FOOL, I think
Hey bartender, why doncha fix me another drink?

LOL! Didn't someone once say the truth will come out after a few drinks? (That's a very loose paraphrase of the actual quote, but it's close enough.) I liked this, Emmy. It made me smile.

thank you for giving Y2K a lightheartedness...with my husband doing it, I'm not always laughing when he has to work half the night and three or four weekends in a row...I wonder if it will ever end and all the problems be resolved?

What drove you to write about Y2K, If it was posed as a question on an English paper I would have froze.

You put some excellent thought into it I liked it.

UKHero~ I was so fed up with all the fuss and fury about Y2K and wondered exactly how everyone ELSE thought of it. Then I got this funny picture in my head of some middle-aged drunk in a bar complaining over his drink that the world couldn't end soon enough. Why not put it into poetry?
