Surrounded by mementos of the life I used to live
Never knowing when the walls of Fate would finally give
Manuscripts of one-act plays lie dusty on the floor
Poetic demon in my head is screaming out for more
Sparks which seared across my soul can never more be seen
Alarm clock of reality has waked me from my dream
Rejection slips, like butterflies, are pinned up on the wall
In closets, on the ceilings, and down every single hall
Watching archives turn to dust, the ruin all around
I bow to unseen audience and then chamber a round

Alicat, I really enjoyed the description you have used here. I can see it all in my mind's eye.

I swear I didn't know where this one was heading when I typed it in...creativity on the hoof. It just came out that way, and I'm not altogether sure how to move it. :-P

Short yet strong, I felt as if I were there. I liked this 'un, I did.
