God took the moon's roundness and the snake's undulation
the climbing plant's entwined and the trembling lawn
the reed's slenderness and the rose's freshness
the leaf's lightness and the peach'smoothness
the tender look of the squirrel and the fickleness of a breeze
the tears of heaven and the gaiety of the sun
the shyness of a hare and the vanity of a peacock
the softness of the down covering the sparrow's throat
and the hardness of the diamond, the sweet taste of the honey and the cruelty of a tiger,
the coldness of the snow and the warmth of the fire

he mixed all those things and formed the woman !She was gracious attractive! And finding prettier than a ibis or a gazelle.
God proud of his work admired it,he gave it as a gift to the man...

Eight days later, the man, sheepish, went to see God:
`Lord ,the creature that you gave me,is poisining my existence, she chats without respite, she laments over nothing,
she laughs and cries at the same time
she is anxious,demanding,noisy!
she is always after me...
she doesn't give me one minute to rest...
i beg you ,Lord,take her back,because i can't live with her!
And God,paternal,took the woman

But after eight days ,the man goes back to God :
`Lord ,my life is lonely since i gave you this creature back
She was singing and dancing beside me,and what a sweetness when she was looking at me,without turning her head, from the corner of her eyes! She was playing with me and there isn't any fruits sweeter than her caress.
I beg you Lord ,give her back to me,because i can't live without her.

And God give her back...

Eight days pass again and God frowns seeing the man coming back with the woman and pushes her in front of himsaying:
`Lord,i don't know how,but i'm certain that creature is giving me more troubles than pleasure,
took her back i don't need her...`
With these words,God got angry:`Man,go back to your hut with your woman and learn to bear her...
I keep her,and in eight daysyou gonna disturb me to see her again...`

And the man went back saying :
Poor am I,twice unfortunate because I can't live without her and can't live live with her

Welcome. Great poem....it certainly is better than 'sugar and spice' in it's description of what a woman is....

Not all of us, PFF, but apparently some are bad enough to inspire this rather wonderful poem.
