I love to watch the sun rise.
I love to watch it set
In seasons and in climates
Where it doesn't make me sweat,
Where it doesn't sear my eyeballs
And it doesn't scorch my hair,
Where it doen't emit heat waves
That coagulate the air,
Where it doesn't make a sauna
Of the front seat of my car
Or make the tires it rides on
The consistency of tar,
Where it doesn't crack the paint
On my withered window sill
Or put me into debt for life
To pay my air conditioning bill.

I had a giggle at this. The sun can be cruel as well as kind. Welcome to our home of poetry!

Dom, So hot you can hang your clothes outside for 10 minutes and they're dry...so hot it sucks the life right out of your lungs? Am I close?

I loved your poem by the way..... but couldn't access your web page!

Not too much sweating going on in Chicago, 'eh? Let me tell you, I get massive head-pounds behind my eyeballs when they get seared....never enough Tylenol when that happens, and boy do I get grouchy, too! (yeah me, grouchy!) "Tires...the consistency of tar.." I loved that line ! I've often wondered how a vehicle holds up to the heat like that, especially when the motors hot too!!! You know when the roads are black sticky, that it's just too darn hot !!! LOL The only time I love the sun, is when I'm near water, and in my thong!!! ROFLOL
