They happily played kicked the can
as the moon danced over the water
street lights coming on at night
their laughter getting louder

They walked the little yellow lines
backward, forwards, racing time
leaping, laughing, jumping fun
hoping the end would never come

They found a dusty plastic lid
and threw it fast and low
ran, and leaped and screamed and smiled
in the way only children know

Suddenly the smiles are gone
the faces sad and wanting more
but the locksmith just arrived at last
to unlock the driver side door

(happened less than two hours ago!. (grin) but it was wonderful while it lasted)

That time in life, so childlike is divine. Your poem takes me back in mind.

Isn't it nice how kids can find the fun even in the worst of situations? They have no worries at all! I liked how I felt I was a spectator watching this, very nicely told with the perfect "mood" & tone!

Yes, even with one skinned knee and socks strewn across the parking lot, it was wonderful, magical and they will never forget it i'm sure, especially the part where they were trying to catch Graham (who is a expert soccer player)!!.. They never saw anyone run so fast!.. hahahah

Thank you for your comments, just wanted to share a sweet moment. ...
