As a child he led me,
along the righteous path.
Look first right then take a step
Get Aís in all your math

Donít talk to strangers
Be kind to little brother
Eat all your vegetables
Listen to your mother

But slowly as I grew older
I began to finally see
the man that I had adored,
would stumble drunkenly.

I found him in a doorway
tattered and slovenly.
I led him to my house
as he had once led me.

He stumbled once at the door
and my childís heart wept
I grabbed his arm and cautioned,
look first right then take a step.
