Fellow poets
dearest friends
kindly lend your ears
to this small tale
of woe!

My day began
with toast and jam
and a nightmare
on my mind:
An essay I must
write this day
due in quicksmart
at five!
I searched for words
and scratched my head
coffee on the go
but those ideas
they wouldn't flow
I couldn't write a word
you see, so then
I tried a trial print
to gain a
small reprieve

But no! Oh no!
My printer would not go!

I stared in horror
- that darn machine -
and nearly
went to scream!
I jiggled plugs
I cursed and cussed
and got down on
my knees

But no! Oh no!
That printer would not go!

I wrote and wrote
as five loomed close
and then I ran so fast
I passed the bus
I ran so quick
I must have kicked
up dust!
I made it to the
printing place
they said
'Why yes, we'll help'
I said 'Oh thank you
thankyou God'
and a smile
lit up my face

And yes! Oh yes!
That printer sure did go!

A happy end?
A lovely print?
To stop me
going round the bend?
No jiggling plugs
no need to curse and cuss?
The problem is
dear poet friends:

MY ESSAY REALLY SUCKS!

Dearly Severn
a tale of woe indeed!
Your teacher must be mad,
ready to spank you
like the feisty girl you were!
With skill so eloquent
none will surpass (anyway!)
you are likely
to get a quicksmart A!

I'm outta here, this is my last reply to one of your poems. The essay thing sounds terrible, but I've been there. Had to write it, etc. Or worse, the computer deleted the entire essay (what a pain!).

Till later, and (keep in touch!)

It was fun to read a poem so nice
And so yes severn I feel your sorrow
Let me give you a quick piece of advice
Always do your essay quick on the morrow

Disaster strikes when it is least needed
A wise one does english essays one day before
I hope that my words are carefully heeded
Or else you'll have many troubles more!

(PS - see you at university on Monday!)
