Said as simply as I can

Pause a moment, think of me,
Think of how I used to be.
Sometimes good and sometimes bad,
Sometimes happy, sometimes sad
And sometimes, just plain old dad.

I held you upon my knee,
In times of tears and of glee.
Sometimes good and sometimes bad,
Sometimes happy, sometimes sad
And sometimes, just plain old mad.

I loved you well, that's the key,
For you're the next nominee.
I wish you well, never bad,
I wish you happy, never sad
And sometimes, just plain old glad.

As time goes on, you will see,
Truth is always in the we.
Good, bad, happy, sad, all threads,
Now I live in memories bed,
When that be gone, I'll be dead.

Interesting and powerful, I loved your use of repetative words. I find that you create much truth in alomost everything you write. Thank you for this tribute.

Simple, but eloquent. You don't sound like you were much of a plain old dad to me - I don't think plain applies to you at all (And I'm not all that cynical, not really....!)
