Candelabra

Where once brigades of light did light,
The darkest times of darkest night,
Teardrop candles, remain abreast,
In dust, the candelabra rest.

Where light and music made a ball
And phantoms danced upon the wall,
And where whispers behind a fan,
Gave mention of a courtesan.

Where dreams gave birth to fantasy,
Desires to sensibility,
A world of boldness, care and dare,
A time of time beyond compare.

In dust, the candelabras rest,
Each teardropped candle, cold abreast.
Time's once sweet morrow, dried e'er more:
I rise in sorrow, close the door.

Sy

tghis had a really neat twisting message - I liked it a lot, especially the way you left me feeling melancholic.

There's a quality...a class about this that is often missing in other posts. I like this style!

I'm not sure how to explain what emotion stirred in me....oddly enough , somewhat tranquil - - you really have an outstanding way with imagery and mood - fabulous work!
