I dreamt last night that you were here I dreamt you'd come to stay But when I greeted you, my dear You turned your face away. I spoke to you, and in my dream You did not answer me And in my heart there rose a scream I saw 'twas not to be I woke, and felt remembered pain That dream was hard to bear I know you'll not come back again For you were never there. |

Thank you, Alicat. The scream was an image for years of failing to make contact - the frustration that never found its way out while he was still alive. |
