LOVE

The epitome of pain.
The emotional drain.
The withered strands of a life,
Waiting on a wife.

The curse to which I'm prone,
A court jester on a throne.
The kingdom of disarray,
Disillusion and decay.

The lies spoken in silence.
The passion provoked to violence.
The expression in your eyes,
A tightened grip on severed ties.

Forgotten images of a dream.
A gaping rictus, a muted scream.
A voice echoing in my head.
The ambivalence of living dead.

The darkness on my soul.
The emptiness, its whole.
The sheen of tears uncried-
Upon dead eyes, opened wide.

Forgone conclusions of wrath,
A reiterating aftermath.
The price paid to appease-
A pining one could never please.

The ever-pendulous emotions.
The fragmented whimsical notions.
The garnishment of a name,
A brandishing of shame.

The puzzle missing a piece,
A chimera, a caprice.
A word that only tips the tongue-
From the song we never sung.

You seem to take the very emotions from my own soul and place them in to words before my eyes. How do you do that? Such a moving piece you've created here. I do love it.

What Nan said is true, but I'm still there.
That must mean something. Wonderful poem.

As with deVine, I wonder why these words don't come to mind for me. Once again, another wonderful work of art!

To my king of the "kingdom of disarray..." I know I've already commented on this one, but felt it worthy to go back to the top! I love how you choose words to pool them together, and create such journeys as this one - thank you again for sharing it.....I thought by the title that it was going to be "upbeat".....I'm sorry you've been scorned.
