Little Boy Voices

"Here Kitty," the little girl called from afar
As I searched for the sweet kitty tracks.
It never ceases to amaze me how cute they are,
And how quickly they can scamper out back.

Next stop is the river, raging down to the sea,
The voices in my head tell me just what to do.
Sweet little kitties, I'll risk my life for thee,
So sing loudly so I can save you.

My heart feels fear as I hear their plaintive calls,
So my love for them drives me to run headlong.
I'd risk my life to save them from the falls,
I know they trust me and my love, so strong.

The other children sense the panic I feel,
As the kittens' cries for their mommy swell.
I feel my panic too, for my love is real,
Nothing can stop me, not heaven or hell.

The voices in my head command me to go on,
As my love is driven by their plaintive cries.
Don't worry kitties, I'll take you all home,
For without your love I would surely die.

"Here Kitty, Kitty," the little girl laughs with joy...
"Look, Mommy! I saved every one of their lives!"
"Oh, nothing really. I'm a tough little boy,"
"No, Mommy. I'm too strong to have tears in my eyes."

"I promise, Mommy. I'm too strong to have tears in my eyes."

You have truly shadowed a kitten's heart by doing all those horrible things.

somebody said longjohn was funny... this isn't funny, sorry...
is this the kind of thing subject to censorship around here? i heard there was a discussion about censorship... have I lost my sense of humor? nah...not likely... this poem isn't funny, that's all there is to it.

I cannot believe... no I WILL NOT believe that so many people in here hate kittens!

Rainbow Girl - how could you, beloved owner of Snoops, even suggest biting off a kitten's head? I thought you loved kittens as much as cats. Or, is it the little boy who risked his life the one you want to punish?

Artur - Horrible things? I will never believe that saving cute little kittens from a raging river is horrible. The bravery and love of that little boy should never be treated so shabbily.

redwriter - Disgusting? I'll bet you were hoping those cute little kittens would drown, and that little girl and little boy would be heartbroken. How can you be so blunt?

Car Girl - Not trust me around your cat? After the beautiful way I described that little boy risking his life to save those kittens? I wish I could have the opportunity to risk my life that way. I would have never guessed you would not want to see kittens saved from drowning.

'Deer - SO! hating kittens isn't enough, eh? Now you want to hang me, too? Why did you hang that cute lovable cat on this board? Don't you know how much I love kittens?

Pandora - Funny?! How can you even THINK that this poem is supposed to be funny. A little boy saving kittens from drowning is NOT supposed to be funny. I guess I thought you loved kittens, too. Why oh why is this world so against kittens? I think that little boy was a hero. I will never laugh at the heroism of children and their love of kittens. Never.

Dear sweet Lorelei. You were right. I should never have posted a poem about saving kittens. Did you see how so many people were cheering for the kittens to drown? I think they should be ashamed of themselves. I will never doubt your judgement again. You know people so much better than me. I love you. I just hope all these other people learn to love kittens, too!

LongJohn's done it again.
The cute kittens crying 'mama'
as he delights in the pain;

o' what have you to gain?
Framing all the kitten-lovers
as the kittens die like rain;

the blood runs like stain
o' Lord stop this man.

I feel like someone who walked into the theatre during the third act. I want to nudge the person next to me and ask "What happened?" I WAS going to say your poem reminded me of my son (age 7) Sir James--slayer of dragons, climber of trees, keeper of all small beasties but now...hmmmmmmm, I wonder, you sly devil.

LngJhnAg, aren't you the clever one?
You've discovered 'EDIT'! Yesterday, in this same spot was a poem about strangling kittens and cutting off their little heads and drowning them.... today? a cute little ditty about saving kittens from drowning...

How humorous! Your sense of humor is quite adroit! I imagine you are impressed with yourself. You are quite the mischievous forum lurker, are you not? And the big plus is, all of the comments following your poem make no sense at all-- and you are thus, the motley jester.

Perhaps the poet police will turn your edit button off. Y'think? String him up, PP! Oh, what? There ARE no poet police at this website? Perhaps you will get lynched. But then again, you'd like that, huh?

your friend, pandora

OK - I admit it - I did write from my dark side (Daddy? It's me, Luke Skywalker!) I am not likely to do that again (at least to that degree). There are times, however, when I feel the need to explore ALL my facets. Its not that I hate kittens... they are pretty darn cute. Its like the villains you see in the movies - you REALLY don't think those people are villainous and evil in their real lifes, do you? Besides, setting up a playful situation sometimes takes a little more than a single poem (I think that's part of my DARK side speaking there). Finally, this IS a forum for all readers, so there is no way I would leave a dark poem like that one on for very long - too many fine, sensitive people out there.

LongJohn,

Just as there has to be the villain in a play, there has to be the hero. That was my dark side speaking, the one of sadness. Rather than pure torture just as you did. So LongJohn, I am not your foe.

The first thing I was writing last night was "ROFLMAO!!!" all in CAPS, before I changed it to that horribly disgusting poem. I had a good laughter, right after the replacement of your first poem, of course. For those who think you are truly a villain:

"sorry friends, he might have a bizarre sense of humor, but he does it well."

your friend, Artur

Artur

Of course I know you are not my foe. My "rebukes" to the "kitty haters" were all in jest, using your comments.

Sue - trust me, the first poem belongs on the cutting room floor. As a matter of fact, there is no copy of it still in existence, and it may be a long long time before I can steel myself to write something like that again.

Pandora - thank you for still being my friend (I hope you don't EDIT your response now and make me feel foolish for saying that *wink*).

All I gotta say in response to your comment about the first poem is...RUN FOR THE HILLS BUTTERFLIES! KELLY IS COMING AND SHE WANTS SOME WINGS!!! lol - just kidding. Thanks for the kudos - writing out of character challenges me a great deal, especially when the character I write out of is as angelic as me .

Belle

You ought to know me well enough,
To know with kittens I'm never rough.
Well, almost never, maybe once or twice.
OK! I admit it! I'm not very nice!

How are ya, lil Belle?
