Purgatorial Incarceration

Wandering timelessly through a wasteland of doubt,
thoughts of you perish-
My mind drifts,
confusion jerking at the tethers of reality's grasp.
Pulled this way-
-then that,
I find myself dreaming...
Of a future...
A destiny filled with impossibilities and realized probabilities.
A step closer,
approaching destinations of fantasy's desire.
Crushed!
Beneath my feet of iron,
the hopes of others become diminished corpses,
brittle,
frail,
no more!
Reverberations of questions fly light years,
only to bounce back a second later.
And just at the climax,
I approach my throne...
god-hood awaits!
But no!
I'm awake.
Yet,
am I still dreaming?

------------------
Where did I go wrong, I never needed this before,
I need a woman, to help me feel.

Elvira, hon, you called me friend,
I blush, I smile, this kiss I send!
The shapes I see are in my mind,
Nowhere for another to find...
I dread to tell the form I saw,
For I'm sure you'll laugh, ha-ha!
Thanks so much, my dear sweet Sue,
but if I am dreaming, what of you?

Excellent! (though I did for a moment think you were going to ask us all to bow down before you - or is that casting pearls before swine?)

Excellent work Christopher! I like everything about it, especially the form. You read a line and it drifts you along, then SNAP! the next line brings you right back...

Wonderful piece!
