Twelve men were on the jury,
...The verdict would come soon,
The judge had called his wife and said
...I should be home by noon.
The case it was a simple one,
...No question as to guilt,
Caught in the act, the crook confessed,
...An ironclad case was built.
But noon it came and then it went
...No verdict was received.
The lawyers and the judge all said
...This cannot be believed.
At half-past four a note came out
...From forth the jury room,
Please could we get some food to eat
...No verdict does there loom,
We shan't divulge our present vote
...The note went on to say,
Eleven steaks is what we'd like,
...And for the ass some hay.

Bravo! Too True! You must simply write more about this life we submit ourselves to.

We all meet asses in our work,
Too stupid to see sense.
Some say "it's just a quirk"
I think there's no defense.

I can think of a few trials this could relate to. Nice work Tim. Good twist, good rhyme.

Very good cadence; good punch-line too. I enjoyed it a lot. -- Linus
