HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO A MAN WHO WAS THERE,
FAR TOO OFTEN AND FAR TOO NEAR

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO A MAN, NOW GONE,
WHO LEFT A LEGACY TO LINGER ON.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO A MAN SO WISE,
WHO SPRINKLED SORROW IN HIS CHILDREN'S EYES.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO A CREATIVE SOUL,
WHO CHEWED ON RESPECT AND SWALLOWED IT WHOLE.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO A MAN WHO CARED,
TOO MUCH FOR THE NOTION THAT HE WAS FEARED.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO THE MAKER OF ME,
WHO TRIED TO FORBID ME TO BE FREE.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY; YOU'VE TAUGHT ME TO LIVE,
BY FORCING MY HEART TO LEARN TO FORGIVE.

That took courage to write, I think. I couldn't identify (luckily) but I think it is really good.

IT SOUNDS TO ME THAT YOUR FATHER HURT YOU, BUT YOU STILL LOVE HIM VERY DEEPLY.
I HAVE YET TO FORGIVE MY FATHER. I DOUBT I EVER WILL. THIS POEM BROUGHT UP SOME NOT-TOO-HAPPY MEMORIES FOR ME, BUT IT WAS STILL VERY GOOD. NICE JOB.

Very well done..........this poem speaks so much more than the words printed on the page say.
