Lil's Taill of Devious Dan and the River Boat Man

As he walked in the room this tall handsome man
A black Stetson adorned the top of his head
All the saloon gazed as he entered
Set them up he yelled out to the bar tender

His eyes as blue, as the sky in September
His cloths clean and crisp as a day in November
He walked with a stick, he held in his hand
Set in pure gold, He was a River Boat Man

The saloon held their breath, as his cloak he unfolded
A nice display from the candlelear light
his diamond crowned hands, an incredible sight
As The Ladies in silken moved in a scurry
to gathered around this handsome man in hurry

Is there anyone here who would take of some faro
The crowed in the room moved, aside straight and narrow
As Devious Daniel sprang to his feet,
not a guy in a dark ally you want to meet
I'll be partaken in some of that faro

Daniel a man of a fearful stature,
well know in this town for the notches he captured
He ruled the faro game that was played in this town
as most of his opponents lie in the ground

The crowd stepped aside as they moved to the table
What is your game? Daniel did say
You are the guest in this humbling town
As he picked up the cards and began laying down
I'll leave that to you said the River boat man
In a coy sorta way, with a glass in his hand

Five card stud, said Devious Dan..
As he shuffled the cards to and fro in his hands
As the River Boat Man with his hands in clear sight
reached in his pocket to search for a light,
as he starred in the eye's of this Devious man
the match he lit with a well steadied hand,
with a big puff of smoke he shot off a grin
As Daniel leaned back and shot a grin back at him
Deal them out, said the River Boat Man,
as he taped on the deck with his diamond crowned hand

Beside the River Boat Gambler stood a girl named of Lil,
with eyes green as emeralds, hair silken red
skin china white, built like a maiden on the ship of delight
he reached out and hugged round her thigh's
with lips ruby red, she sent out a smile,
to this tall handsome guy, as he looked up
an gave her a wink of his eye

Daniel dealt out and threw in some silver,
then the game started, and went through the night
Four kings, three aces, a flush and a straight
the River Boat Man didn't loose one of eight

He played all night and never got tired
Though Daniels eye's stated to look kind of wired
As the more the River boat man did win
Devious Dan got madder and madder at him

The crowd that was left could see what was coming
So they drank up their drinks and moved to the
side and held there breath, in a mysterious eye.

Last game said the River boat Man its a quarter till 6,
as he gazed at the watch he held in his hand
But Devious Dan gave a low angry mumble
said in a deep voice with a grumble
I'll say when the last hand is dealt
As he tighten the notch on his gun belt

The River boat Man call the bartender
and asked for more whisky to serve to the crowd
Set them up again, he yelled out loud,
As he came to the table to give them their drinks
he nudged on Lil's shoulder he gave her a wink
So she followed him back, as she played with her glove
As she looked back at the River Boat Man with such love

This is the last hand, said the River boat Man,
and seconds passed by before one word from Dan
I said it before now listen again
" I'll say when the game will end"
The cards he dealt out, he had hardly shuffled
Anger and rage showed on his face as it ruffled
Line's appeared over his brow
As he looked up and stared at the River Boat Man
And reached to his waist, the gun was in hand

The tall handsome stranger, this River Boat Man
Saw Devious Dan move for the gun he held in his hand
So he reached toward his chest, and pulled out his revolver
Devious Dan went limp and fell over....
Nothing was said not a word in the room

The River Boat Man grabbed his sick, hat and cloak
Slowly he walk up toward Lil, as he seemd to float
she stood by the bar, her face cold and still
Her face in his hands a kiss so tender
With a tear in her eye's, she said she would alway's remember
Told the bartender, to set up the room,
As he tossed out some silver, and walked out the saloon

OK, Tori! I love stories and ballads of card games, riverboat gamblers and the like and it's wonderful you would join into that wonderful realm of storytelling.....and doing it very well, may I add? Nice work. Keep it up!
