He stands over my bed at night
While he thinks I sleep
I wish that he would go away
But he stays to torment me
He whisper's lover's words in this
Dead of night I've come to know
His hands are rough and confusing
And still I can't say no
I cried because I knew
I knew what he thought of me
He thought me a woman at eight years old
He thought me a womanly child
My anger is too mild
Instead I'm disgusted, revolted, ashamed
Give me back my innocence
My reality
Is distorted and mistaken for
The fantasies I harbor, fantasies
Of a perfect life and a perfect me
All new and clean again
This hangs above my head like a thundercloud
Drenching me in guilt, in hate
In dirt that I can never be rid of
Leaving me in a deluded state
Of mind
I am aware
So aware of that gleam in your eye
I am aware of what you think of me
I learned what's it's like to be woman
What it's like to be a womanly child
Save me from this pain that
Lays down with me at night
Looks up at me from my pillow
Save me from these feelings that
Cry for me when my eyes are dry
Save me from myself-

It's hard for me to respond other than to say I am sorry for what was done and the harm some men callously inflict upon the body and mind of the innocent. There is so much more to say, but I shall yell my rage in a more appropriate place.

Rhiannon: This was well written and moved me to some very angry emotions. Thank you for your efforts.

I greatly appreciate the responses. It is very hard to open that one up to the public but it is necessary to be honest. Again, thank you.

A wonderful poem about a horrible crime! Perhaps people are uncomfortable about reading about this as it is such a sad, disgusting form of abuse. I applaud you for being able to put your thoughts into words. I am sure this poem will help others like you who've suffered this kind of abuse. Please accept my sincere appreciation of you and your talent.

I've been through the same thing. I would like to e-mail you if that's okay.
