Lost in space
I found direction
For just one brief moment
I believed I could give life
When you made me the brightest star
I shone so hard for you
I gave everything to burn so brightly
To be the centre of your universe
But you happened to glance away
and see an even brighter star
One who outshines me
I am pale by comparison
The universe is infinitely cold and lonely
Now my starlight falters
I'm burning out
Unable to shine again

this is very sad, and it's something that happens to people everyday. you express your feelings very well. this is a very beautiful poem.

An excellent metaphor all too true. Perhaps that is why, instead of shining as brightly as we can, we tend to hold something in reserve just in case. Welcome, graham. Shine on.

This is wonderful! A sad comment on how we view ourselves...maybe if we just hang on a bit, someone will come along and gaze at us.. and maybe the one who looked for a brighter star will find that star is tarnished inside! You work is very good!!!!

How well I understand this. piece..

But remember.. sometimes you have to look "inside" yourself for the star .. instead of "outward"..

That's where the treasure really lies.
