I always tried to write for peace
If death and darkness still release
I believed misfortunes were not told
If not to watch my words unfold

At night I prayed nourish my gift
Give me the words one soul would lift
I would trade the chance for one kiss
To sit at home and write of this

I prayed to God a simple man
All I would need was pen in hand
Love can be an eternal fixture
In my poems I paint its picture

Otherwise I would never know
If I didn’t write I couldn’t show
Read between the flowery lines
Fine love and death there intertwines

One night God gave me one to kiss
He whispered I would not need this
Took the ink from my sharpest pen
Gave me Woman to think again

I liked this one. Never vow to give up the gifts God gives you in life. Be it the love of words or the love of .... love.

You're still creating poetry, Walt.....only in a different form. The sheets just stopped being paper.
