He looked at her with sadddened eyes and she said," I can't change the way things are."
But deep inside all she wanted to do was hold him as he got into his car.
He didn't close the door, instead just sat there and cried.
She said," I'm so sorry, I can't change my heart, believe me, i've tried."
She told him life is hard and he said," that's ok, all i've ever wanted is you."
She wondered," why must it always be this way?"
He knew if he did things different that their love would rearange but all he could do was stand there and say ," but I can't change."

"You can't make a heart love somebody, you can tell it what to do but it won't listen at all. You can't make a heart love someboy, you can lead a heart to love, but you can't make it fall.--Clint Black

"I can't make you love me if you don't. I can't make your heart feel something it won't. Here in the dark, these final hours. I will lay down with you. I'll feel the power...but you won't, no, you won't."

Your Clint Black quote and this poem reminded me of another song. No, you can't make someone love you. You can't make someone change if they don't want to. There comes a time when we all have to realize that.
