Three steps shy
I heard them say
Three steps more
And he'd been on his way

They say he had it all
A beautiful loving wife
With children, one of each
A great family life

In perfect health he was
Jogging every day
Coaching little league teams
Where his children play

A steady job and good pay
Something that he really enjoyed
His business partner and good friend
Was his younger brother Lloyd

But three steps more
Is what I heard
That, and a bottle of gin
Kept him form the curb

A drunk driver
And three steps shy
He had it all
A lucky guy

A second here, a step there.....so many small chance circumstances our lives hang on...That's why life is so valuable and special.

life is so fragile
a delicate thing
famined or famous it's all the same
when life is taken so carelessly
it's always a shame
so life to it's fullest
cherishing every moment for who knows when it's our last

realy nice job andrew.

Very nicely done, Andrew - Sometimes we simply have to wonder "Why?" - and not question further.....

Thank you one and all for stopping by; your comments are most appreciated.
I didn't write this from any personal experience other than that gained from reading the news, thus the perspective of the piece. As if one where a bystander to the event. I just read in the paper today about a young family of four, returning from the grandparent's house, being crushed and killed by a large steal pipe that came off an out of control truck. The truck driver was drunk. To read their story and see their picture in the paper, it sounded like they had it all. As you said Nan, sometimes we just have to wonder "Why?" and then carry on.

Thank you ladies for coming by. Delores, I think it will happen when there aren't any more cars. Psycodillica: just as long as we keep thinking. And by the way, cool thing being the VP of such an organization. Stick with it.

You know, I read it yesterday and just didn't know how to express my feelings. Life is so fragile. I lost a family member in an automobile accident because of an impatient driver (who was borderline DUI). I think you put it very well..just a missed placed step.... You can't help but wonder.... Thank you, Andrew. You did a fine job here.
