The King of Hearts

Okay, everyone liked the last poem, so here's
another...A prize to whoever can guess the topic...it's a strange one...

KING OF HEARTS

The king of hearts,
died on his stage tonight.
How could it be,
that a voice so serene,
would slip away so quietly this night.

And everyone laughed,
as he sang and he danced,
and they cried,
on the night he so silently died.

A beautiful man,
gave a performance so grand,
that it was heard throughout the night.
And all through the land,
the audiences would stand,
and applaude the king who lost his life.

And it wasn't fair,
and it wasn't right,
that the king of hearts,
died on his stage tonight.

I like the poem, but haven't got a clue unless you refer to Elvis.

I guess it must be about a celebrity, and most likely is Elvis (King of Rock'n'Roll, ya know) like Hoot said, but the one that came to my mind was JFK Jr. Who was it?
