my blue eyes search for something deeper
hidden between the layers of reality
my fingers probe the depths of imagination
for something lost in the overgrowth of life
my mind wanders through doors and windows
to seek innocence lost by children
my feet stumble down broken sidewalks
to find dreams long since left behind
my heart skips about inside my soul
to release hopes silenced by yesterday's pain
my ears listen for the echoes of laughter
once resounding around these walls of memory
