That was great! I loved the style of repeatedly asking the Man in the Moon questions that led me through the story. I'm sorry for your loss.

This touched me deeply. Your brother lives on in your heart and I'm sure he's pleased to be remembered in such loving words.

One must continue to live on for we never truely lose, we gain a guiding hand. As we all can see your brother is guiding yours quite gracefully! Your words are wonderful.

Elvira, this poem is great. I am not afraid to write or read serious poems (my other personality and I both do!). This one was really neat the way you kept talking about the man in the moon. Imagine, a hundred years from now, people will read this and know about all the current events going on that particular day. OK, now I'm rambling, so I'll cut to the chase: Your poem was well written and a beautiful tribute to your brother.

I remember sitting in front of the television watching Mr. Armstrong take his "one small step" into history on that particular day. I was six at the time. It's one of those events where people look back and say "I was doing this... or doing that." I'm sorry such painful memories are connected to this time where so many are celebrating the anniversary of this grand event. Your offering serves as a reminder that the world does not stop turning and day to day life continues in the shadows of such things.
I will not tell you this is a "great" poem, for it stems from the tragic death of a loved one. I will say "Thank you" for opening your heart and sharing the pain therein.

Truth is, I was all of six for a couple of days (7/17/63). Same year? Maybe. Ya, I'm a moon child. Rather synchronistic, don't you think?

Wow...I do not know what to say. Wonderfully written, but oh so sad.

I am SO glad I was able to read this poem. How intricately woven this piece is! I literally felt chills through me as my eyes moved from line to line. How sad that it took a tragedy to produce it. My heart goes out to you, Elvira.

Is your man in the moon....God?

don't worry elvira, serious poems don't scare me away. in fact, i'm drawn to them. nothing's better than a poem that makes you think or stirrs emotions from deep within.

What a horrible way to lose someone you
love.Believe me I've spent quite a few
late nights up worrying about my son when
he has been drinking.Young people just
don't realize the hazards that can come
with drinking.Sorry about your loss.
