There was one who stole my heart
then he ripped and tore it apart
A strange girl he sat on his knee
and told her things he never told me

I went home and cried on my bed
not a word to my mother I said
My father came home and looked
but he could not find me

Pounding and banging
down my door he broke
There he found me
hanging by a rope

As he went to cut me down
on my dresser a note he found

"Dig my grave, six feet deep
a marble stone from head to feet
On the top put a dove
so the world will know
I died for love"

Oh, darling dear, what have you done?
You killed yourself for son man's son...

Dee

I'm glad you're around to write this poem. As a rascal and scalawag (retired, of course), may I say that NO MAN IS WORTH ALL THAT! I hope you haven't been hurt this way.

I've got a feeling you've been down that road I traveled just a few years ago...most of my poetry was written during that time. I think we sometimes write our best pieces when we're down ...one's emotions truly shine through at our lowest point...good work, but so vivid & hasty it nearly scared me off my seat!!

I do agree the this was quick and to the point but that's what's unique. Thanks for your replys. I also agree no one is worth taking your own life. You only have one to live.

Deanna

I'm glad to see you're not a risk. When you think about all the men in the world, it is kinda overwhelming, ain't it? All us 'angels' out here?

hugs and hopes for a speedy recovery

I was in high school when I wrote this. I was just trying to prove a point about how it's not worth it. I was never in this situation. Just a friend was. *sigh*
