Star above shine down upon me
Let me wish upon thee -
All your magic - all your mystery
Let me wish upon thee...

Where is he who'll fill that space
Deep within my secret place ?
Pain is etched beneath my face
and deep within my secret place...

If only I could hold you tight
our love would feel so right --
To possess your soul for just one night -
My mind - you do excite......

This is nice...and wistful. Have you ever read Emily Dickinson? Your use of dashes puts me in mind of her work. Here's an excerpt of a lovely one:
'Wild nights - Wild nights
Were I with thee
wild nights should be
Our luxury!

Futile the winds-
to a heart in port
Gone with the compass!
Gone with the chart!"

It's a shame but I can't remember the last verse! What a great poet you are.

Your words created a musical pattern in my head as I read aloud. Very thoughtful way of provoking thought.

Severn,
I love Emily Dickinson. She is my favorite poet. I have probably read at least half of her poems, and even memorized some. However, the one you mentioned seems to have escaped me. I don't think I've ever heard it. Thanks for sharing that excerpt from it.

FemmeFatale, Severn is right- your work does resemble that of Emily Dickinson's. That is truly a great compliment. That is what I long for- to write like Emily.
Great job!

PFF You are certainly not! Unfortunately there are many of us out here "who has wasted many a day..." Enjoyed the read

Another lovely poem Femme ... most are strong enough to stand alone ...yet, male or female we yearn for someone to complete that other half ... to share the things we live in this life ... thanks for all of your prose ... such lovely gifts to share ...

Wonderful work, PFF..haven't most of us spent time yearning for someone? Exellently done.
